Root River Turbidity TMDL
(Total Maximum Daily Load)

How much sediment is getting into the river? Where is the sediment coming from? What practices will have the biggest impact on cleaning it up? Those are just a few of the questions that will hopefully get answered as a new water quality project begins for the Root River Basin. The Fillmore SWCD will be the main coordinating agency for the project along with many other project cooperators. In the coming months there will be informational meetings held to provide residents of the watershed an opportunity to learn more about the project and how to get involved.
If you are interested in getting involved in this project, you can volunteer to be a part of the Root River Turbidity TMDL Stakeholder Advisory Group. ( Click here for presentations from the November 20, 2008 Stakeholders meeting.) This group will allow you to meet with some of the staff, and keep you updated on the latest news regarding this TMDL study. It also provides a pathway for citizens of this watershed to ask questions and give any input they may have. Being a part of this Stakeholder Advisory Group won’t take up too much of your time, as we will only meet once or twice a year. We are very interested in the public’s perspective, so we encourage all of you to participate. To find out more information, or to sign up for this group contact me through the information below:
