Fillmore SWCD held a Dye Tracing event on Tuesday September 22, 2026, at the Eric Irish farm.

Fillmore SWCD · October 1, 2026 ·

Fillmore SWCD held a Dye Tracing event on Tuesday September 22nd 2026 at the Eric Irish farm. We had the pleasure of having Dr. Calvin Alexander and John Barry assist us with this event as well as Jake Stacken and Aaren Mathison.

Dye Tracing is a method of tracking and tracing various flows using dye as a flow tracer when added to a liquid. Dye tracing may be used to analyses the flow of the liquid or the transport of objects within the liquid. Dye tracking may be either qualitative, showing the presence of a particular flow or quantitative, when the amount of the traced dye is measured by special instruments.

Simple method: Dye Tracing is tracking water movement by adding a safe colored dye and seeing where it appears later.

Approx 27 people attended this event, we look forward to hosting a follow-up meeting to discuss our finds later this fall, early winter. Details to follow once set.
